Re: Oil Change intervals ?

There can be a difference between servicing and changing oil. You are supposed to change Tmax oil every 3000 miles (which seems a bit often, these days), but services are every 6000 miles. Filters are supposed to changed every 12,000, but I have had several that have rotted through before then!

Re: T Max Mk1 - Why not?

Thanks for the contributions. I'll await Funky's comments, too. I didn't know that the MK2 was the same dimensionally as the MK1 so that does open up other options. Although the price difference in those local to me is a factor: - MK1s 18-22k miles, FSH £1200-£1500 - MK2s 38-52k miles no service hi...

Re: T max mk 6 heated grips have gone from menu ?

. Popped into the dealer yesterday , the t max tech was not in but a sales guy said it’ll be a fuse. There isn’t a fuse it’s plug and play . Anyway it’ll wait a few more days until he’s back, not quite cold enough yet  So scooters are now so complex that they need specialist 'techs' to fix...

Re: T Max Mk1 - Why not?

Yes - should have said that Yes, any Tmax is a great scooter, and will do almost any job brilliantly. Spares availability doesn't seem to be a problem, despite the age of early models, though of course any bit with a Yamaha label seems to cost several times as much as you'd think! Obviously for runn...

Re: T Max Mk1 - Why not?

No, no reason why this a bad idea, though pre 2003 ones are liable to some sort of engine failure (cam chain?) around 30,000 miles. But the mk2s are exactly the same chassis/body but with more power, better brakes, better front forks, probably better economy - so the same thing but better. More expe...

Re: Burgman M-type pic (manual gears)

What's dubious about changing gears, even Auto Only licence holders rave on about Honda DCT bikes. Well, the machinery usually does a better job of it! The 'manual' option on the Burgman 650 was a complete pain in the butt to use. I didn't try the manual option on my X-ADV test ride - and I suspect...

Re: Burgman M-type pic (manual gears)

Intriguing....but what's the point? Is just the dubious pleasure of changing your own gears?

Re: T max mk 6 heated grips have gone from menu ?

Hmmm! Another reason why I didn't bother with the Yam grips and went for something with a real switch! Sounds like a software issue. Kind of like there was a software update that didn't recognise the grips, or maybe the system reset itself to factory settings for some reason and forgot the grips wer...

Re: Best current scooter tyre overall ?

Sometimes the leaks can be very subtle - especially from the rim - if you could see loads of bubbles coming out then the tyre would be deflating in minutes, not hours. I'd try the search again taking lots of time to look for very tiny bubbles coming out very slowly. Its never very nice to be aware o...

Re: Italy the home of many many T Max's

Apparently something like 180,000 Tmaxs have been sold in Italy since 2001. If you lined them up, it'd be a long line.....
