Re: Tmax mk6 pillion comfort?

For those interested, I finished my write-up: https://boymeetsbike.com/2019/09/22/i-bought-one-a-4000-mile-review-of-a-2017-yamaha-t-max-530-dx/ Interesting! Thanks. I told you that it was possible to drag fuel consumption down to 40mpg if you thrash it! Interesting that you compare the handling wi...

extremely glad you weren't hurt when the thing seized up. Scary stuff...
I don't want to think about what would have happened if it'd failed at 80 in the outside lane of the M25!!! Presumably that was part of the reason why Yamaha Japan got involved....

Re: NC750X DCT

The T-Max *is* a lot of fun, that's for sure...and I do hate spoked wheels... Why is your T-Max stuck in a workshop? Nick Yes, the spoked wheels would another piss-off - I'm not that anal about keeping scoots clean, but cleaning spoked wheels would be a nightmare! Enough reason to choose the Integr...

Re: NC750X DCT

Damn, that's impressive. Perhaps I should've gotten an X-ADV instead of my T-Max after all! ;) ...but the Tmax is more fun :!: ...or at least it appeared to be from my X-ADV test ride! And the NC engine's Harley impressions at low revs would drive me nuts. There again, the Tmax is more fun only whe...

Re: belts (again).

My instinct would be that although belts probably degrade, its 'only' 9 years old so will probably be OK. There again, I guess how much a new one costs (I guess an SH300 belt costs less than a £120 Tmax one!) and whether you are working in the area anyway. I wouldn't do a special job but if you are ...

Re: cvt

Saw that one... interesting transmission idea... Can't Stand Henry Cole though... his diction and inflection is so annoying, he should present children's programs! I can see your point about Henry, I'm ok with him. I like the other guy, he genuinely seems knowledgeable. Just to be contrary, I find ...

Re: cvt

A question......
Are the engines used in CVT-engined scoots specially set up to work most effectively with the CVT? eg to like working at certain rev ranges? Or are they normal engines so that if you somehow fitted a manual box to them it'd work like a 'normal' manual bike??

Y As for the tyres...no idea. , . Slow acceleration, gentle braking, it all adds up I guess!
Oh....as that's not how I ride, I guess that says it all!

This is the specific part of cvt operation I'm trying to get straight in my head.
What normally happens when you twist the throttle is that the revs rise a bit, but then stay constant whilst the CVT does its work.

Re: NC750X DCT

I did see some figures in a magazine....I did cut it out, but I seem to have lost it in one of my rare purges on junk!
