Re: Lavenham Tea and Cake Run

And very good it was too! Nice to see the lads and we had a great ride with some nice tea and cake at Lavenham...hmmm. mottza has this way of finding all the best routes and he took us through some little know scenery and roads. Lovely afternoons ride. ;)

Thanks again Chris.

Re: belts (again).

Yeah, I've seen a belt with missing teeth with just 5k miles on it, that was on one of our members bikes a few years back. This was because the time period for changing the belt had expired by a couple of years, not due to mileage. The belt looked peachy, you couldn't tell it was fooked, no cracks, ...

Re: belts (again).

I think I'd change it without any hesitation. Belts vary quite a bit in construction and it's actually not always possible to tell how worn or degraded a belt is by looking at it (a mistake folks make with car engine cam belts which suffer the same fate sometimes). The lack of cracks on a used belt ...

Re: cvt

I find Henry Cole ok but he is a bit of a twit. He took out a newly rebuilt vintage single cylinder bike from yesteryear with the specific instructions NOT to open it up like you do on modern bikes. It HAD to be run in at under 50mph or some such thing. What did he do...yes he seized it up because h...

Re: cvt

Engines on scooters are generally designed for the actual purpose they are intended, like any engines in any vehicle. Since the engines in a manual bike and CVT bike generally have to do the same job and need similar to identical pulling characteristics, there isn't actually usually any big differen...

Re: Do you think newer riders are missing out?

A ride on one normally convinces most people! I've been responsible for our local dealer selling at least two GTS bikes in the last year because I let them have a quick go on mine. This resulted in the guys gong for a proper test ride at the dealer and buying. They go differently to how motorcyclist...

Re: Birthday Ride

Blimey, I missed this Chris. You know it's all downhill from here onwards don't you! Lol Still recovering from surgery but at least I've found it great going over some old topics. Probably not appropriate here but been meaning to ask you about that Chris. How does that Tomtom fit to your bike? I'm n...

Re: Do you think newer riders are missing out?

No Meldrew, you're not a real man if you don't go by bike!!

I've been to the NEC by car with several mates too. It can be very convenient. But it's equally easy by bike and free high security parking under cover too. Clearly most do go by car.

Re: Do you think newer riders are missing out?

Yes good arguements and points made from everyone. Going back to my main point, I'm asking do you think newer riders are missing out by not trying the huge range of smaller machines. Because it seems to me after talking to numerous newer riders, although some of them have been riding for 10 years or...

Re: Do you think newer riders are missing out?

I know exactly where you two guys are coming from. Gotta say I agree and the most fun I've ever had was on my Burgman 400 and now, my Vespa. My GSX1400 was great for going 0-62mph in 2.57seconds but you can only do that so many times before the excitement wears off. The bike then becomes a tiresome ...
