Welcome. Small world! I know someone in Palmerston, not too far from you.
I wake up every morning with a smile upon my face,
My natural exuberance spills out all over the place!

Re: You want to know about ME?!
Good to hear you're coming over SP. Oh yea, no end of good touring reviews. In general, South Island, generally empty roads & Good People. Have to watch out for the higher ratio of tourists - I've had a camper van come straight at me by a driver who'd forgotten where they were!
North Island: much busier. I haven't ridden anywhere near Auckland (hell, haven't even been that far north in many years!)
Dare I say it, the NI has a few places that are a little, shall we say, 'nogo areas'. I'm sure you have them in the UK (nod nod, wink wink ). Maybe more 'just keep moving...'. Don't let that put you off though.

Re: You want to know about ME?!
I loved the South island thought it was a great place to drive. I did B&B and if I was doing it again I would use a camper van, some of those isolated B&B were a bit duelling banjo's territory. Not sure how much touring I shall be doing this time , one of my close friends an American doctor married a NZ lad and moved over . He has not seen much of the island so he is taking leave whilst I am there so hopefully we wont be spending too much time in Auckland, not that I dislike it but a bit like a village after here. Anyway flights all booked and paid for even got my seat chosen 14K so on me way .
