Re: Cape Town, South Africa
My maxi scoot had to go in for some major engine work, twice!
First time, oil in water, so while it was open did rings and valve stem seals, due to high oil consumption (1l/3000km),but after the job, oil consumption was worse(1l/1200km),so now, back in the shop, barrel and piston added plus a repeat of rings. I hope they do the job right.

I have a car as well, but that thing is super thirsty!
I hope the parts are in the country, or else it is an import story from Taiwan.

Re: Cape Town, South Africa
I just got my scoot back with new barrel, piston, rings , exhaust cam rocker arm.
Plus used head, as the old head, the mackie showed me serious cam bearing housing wear on the exhaust cam side.
He showed me that oil does not get there in sufficient quantities, a design flaw for this model.
Anyways, my main question is :what is the correct running - in procedure for this engine 2010 efi kymco xciting 500ri.?
Another question : does the head need further torqing, like on a car?

Nice to have your machine back, i think you only have to bed the rings into the bore. I would ride it as normal but do not give it full power for a few hundred miles, work up to it...some will say thrash it from the off but me, i am old school and do it more slowly as in your case you only need take the
the rough edges off the bore so the rings will seal.
Good luck with it.
