W800 - 1 year on

Post by capitano »

The Gnu, my W800 is 1 year old today.

Only just over 5000 miles, I wish it had been more but I have been busy and I don't commute.

Ridden through Winter and plenty of rain last "Summer" too!

Kept looking OK by Mr Sheen, WD40 and an oily rag. :D

Fred Dibnah was right all along.

Nah not really I don't have the time these days. Old school bike so I adopted the Fred Dibnah old school method of a wipe with an oily rag. In my case this has been a wipe with a rag soaked in WD40 to get the cack off and a wipe with a clean rag with some 10/40 afterwards. :D

Paintwork is Mr Sheened when it gets mucky. :D

I guess the oily rag creates a thin film to protect the surface, like the much more pricey ACF50 option?

Looks cracking (still) by the way. ;)

Looking great Ged, a credit to you and Fred, Time to buy a flat cap and a cotton boiler suit to go with the image. I always like riding my old bike with a boiler suit on, not many old bikers/mechanics are left.

Looks showroom fresh, better than my 6 month old Burger anyway. I used to use an oily rag on my CD175s I used to commute on, worked a treat.
