Been looking at this bike for a while, sat on it a few weeks ago and felt right, nice high bars and almost sat upright, so today popped down to Blackpool Honda incase they had the DCT version in, but thats still at Lancaster Honda.
The bike had the full luggage pack fitted. Initial thoughts were its a bit high, but its an adventure bike, so it would be,and foot pegs, whats that all about im used to flat boards and it sounded like my old VFR 750, but with a louder burble from the exhaust, quite a good sound.
My FZ1 was quick and I made it a lot quicker by dropping the front sprocket down by 2 teeth 17 down to 15, which made it pull very hard in top gear from low revs, let me tell you this thing is QUICKER to accelerate and has more low down grunt, fantastic !! nice and smooth power delivery with no vibration to the rider, the very small screen seemed to defelect some wind, but not a lot, the screen is adjustable but needs an allen key and it is only 2 position, low or not as low. The lever protectors offered a little wind protection, but my summer gloves let the cold through more than usual, but it didnt bother me to much.
The brakes seemed very good, the front seemed to dive more than usual, but the forks have more travel than normal, so to be expected.
I was quite impressed with the engine braking even if I left it in top, I like the 650 for that, hardly need the brakes, wonder if the DCT is the same ?
Corners, well its not my bike and not used to it yet, but I think I almost got to the edge of the tires on my 1 hr run looking at the fresh chicken strips, so yeah it goes round corners very well, without feeling like your scratching your knees
Top gear roll on:, 40-70mph in 3 seconds 70-100mph in 4 seconds top speed 145mph it got there quick and stayed there, so I think its limited,I did read somewhere that 124mph was top.The screen must have helped as I rode a 1200 naked bandit up to 95mph and couldnt go any faster due to the wind blast. So to those people that must be 70 years old and wear a flat cap a bikes top speed isnt 70mph !!
adjustable screen

I wanted to try the DCT version, but it was far too tall for my little legs, so I didn't take it out.

Re: Crosstourer 1200 testride non DCT
The Crosstourer has a detuned VFR1200 engine from 170bhp to 127bhp
I really fancy a go on the Crosstourer with DCT
I rode the VFR1200 with DCT and loved it, but the riding position was a killer
Mind, I am on my 4th bike already this year so I had better not....

!45 is a good speed on an adventure bike, enjoy the view. I could get 130 out of my Pans a few years ago, so things have moved on.

Re: Crosstourer 1200 testride non DCT
It felt limited as it stopped dead at 145 so there maybe more to come, and only revs to 9K RPM, and it only had a few hundred miles on it. Seating position was perfect, my right shoulder aches slightly after about 30 mins on the scooter , no pain with the crosstourer !!
I sat on the VFR1200 at the bike show, was really looking forward to it, what a dissapointment, almost racing bike sitting position.Sat on the Pan and some BMW's they were great, Pan was best.I rode the VFR1200 with DCT and loved it, but the riding position was a killer

Re: Crosstourer 1200 testride non DCT
I no it's not the crossdresser but does have DCT my ugly scoot does not have as good engine braking as the big Burger did. Tis ok if you cange down a gear on the button but it
does not change down it's self soon enough, as you are in top gear @ 38mph....does engine brake but not great,,the 1200 could be better..but it was too tall for my little legs.
Lyn.
