Re: Fatal accident.
This is true, a scenario where a road user fails to give way when they should or the biker is not riding with any regard to the road conditions/instructions is entirely preventable and not an accident. That covers the majority of bike accidents.gn2 wrote:Almost none are true accidents.Bluebottle wrote:Some are, some aren't
It's either careless riding (speeding, tailgating etc.) or careless driving/riding by a vehicle failing to yield (turning across the path of a bike, hitting bike from behind, riding/driver jumping lights etc.)
An accident is something that couldn't have reasonably been avoided, e.g. hitting an animal that darts into the road or slipping on a big patch of diesel on a roundabout, not due to a lapse of concentration or moment of carelessness by someone.
Re: Fatal accident.
Diesel on roundabouts is caused by carelessness.
Most diesel spills are easy to spot and avoid.

Re: Fatal accident.
How is that possible?
The statements cannot both be true.

Re: Fatal accident.
Someone call me?
It seems, repeat 'seems', acceptable to many to ride or drive 10 MPH faster than the posted speed-limit.
I tend to ride and drive more conservatively these days but use the +10% on the speedo most of the time.
If the speed-limits on those roads mentioned earlier were reduced to 50 MPH it might help keep speed down.

Re: Fatal accident.
I'd rather see the limits we've got enforced properly than new ones brought in that also get ignored.
Otherwise the law abiding keep getting slowed down and inconvenienced while the idiots carry on as they always have
