Well, I refitted the carbs and cranked away but the bike just wouldn't start. Choke on, choke off, nothing :o - Then I noticed I'd left a rag in the air filter box to keep the weather etc. out. Hey ho, started up first prod and ticked over beautifully. Took it on a 30 mile run up the local by pass and came back down country lanes. Jobs a good-un! It's running quieter, cooler, and without the annoying popping and banging in the exhausts on the overrun, and a plug chop revealed a nice tan colour.. :) The only thing I've had to adjust has been slowing the tickover down a few clicks. I had been expecting to notice a slight increase in fuel consumption, but I've just Fuelly'd up and it's done 77.7 mpg.. :? Not sure what's gone on there all I did was decant the fuel from the tank, put it back in and rode..then filled up

I checked the specs and they reckon around 47 mpg average from the 1100 . If you can keep getting that high mpg I would be questioning the accuracy of the speedo, milometer, maybe it's a kmh unit with a mph disc fitted . Keep us informed as to how it keeps performing .

No it was just a joke (jets for the NC) Somehow I've cocked it up. My fuelly figure should show lower mpg because of the fuel I've lost emptying the carbs, decanting to my temporary tank etc. I was expecting it to show about 40 mpg, not 77.7...
Maybe there's a tooth fairy topping up the tanks of impoverished pensioners in our area... :? :D

The latest Fuelly figures for the Shadow now show 44.7mpg. Dropped about 10 mpg. I think I need to get a few more fuel ups under my belt before I can consider that a direct result of the jet up. 8-)

But my latest fuelly for the TMax gave 99.9 mpg! The mpg gremlin has obviously climbed out of the Shadows petrol tank and into one nearest to it - the TMax'es. :o
Either that or my memories going! Naw couldn't be!

Latest fuelly gave 47.5 mpg. Mixed riding with a couple of decent runs. 8-)
