Growl..

Post by 2wheelover51 »

I'm thinking of getting myself a Yamaha Bulldog MT01.
Has anyone any experience of them? :|

I think you will find that the Yamaha Bulldog is a BT110.wIth shaft drive, and the mt01 is 1700cc push-rod with chain drive.
Old honda sh125.
New Honda sh125.
Ride free,ride safe.

Thanks Richie. Yes, I see the one I thought was the Bulldog is a 1700, and the actual Bulldog is an 1100 shaftie.
That's the one I was thinking of. But since it's just an updated Shadow motor in a naked roadster frame with what looks like the same shaft drive as my Shadow, I don't think I'll bother! :D I think it was the MT01 (1700) which impressed me with it's slow revving nature, but as you say, it's chain drive..

Well I went along and had a look at the Bulldog. It's in lovely condition, with low mileage. Pretty immaculate really.
The motorcycle press don't exactly rave over them, since they produce less than 100 BHP and are not so good on track days, but owners seem to rate them which is more important. Going along on Monday to have a test ride, so we shall see.. :?:

Well weather stopped play. I didn't fancy dodging snowflakes and freezing my but off on a test ride but hopefully I can go tomorrow and take it for a spin.
As pics show it's pretty immaculate. :)

Knock them down a bit on price bud (whatever it is) fender extenda & rear hugger will run you towards a couple of hundred quid

Great looking bike, 100% MOT history. What's not to like?

Yes it did look good, unfortunately MOT history is not service history, and it had a knock/vibration which absolutely spoiled any riding pleasure when it was hot.
It's no longer with me and has been replaced with a much nicer VFR750F which looks great, goes like stink and sounds amazing.
We live and learn, hopefully.. :) :|
