Two smokers

Post by 2wheelover51 »

I've been looking on the Dorset "Bughad" classic bike site and there's a nice little YB125 there for £1350 which is tempting me. Nice and light, autolube etc. Needing a little fettling but basically sound. Has anyone had one of these? I had a little 50 many years ago with the same sort of motor - horizontal cylinder, carb. on the side of the crankcase, etc. really reliable and they go well. I think it would be nice for a change from my heavy bikes something nice and light and easily managed and a two stroke, just for a change.

A 125cc version of your old YB100 could be what you are looking for but the YBR125 is a 4stroke and has nothing in common. A YBR would do better mpg but an early YB100 will be ( soon? ) mot and tax exempt.

I've looked but can't find any reference to the YB125, only the YB100. I know a four stroke would make more sense, better economy etc. It's probably just nostalgia but I just like the look of this little bike.

It's a pretty wee thing. No mistaking that bark!
I wake up every morning with a smile upon my face,
My natural exuberance spills out all over the place!

Didn't know there was a 1960s 125, the later YB100 is fine as a 100cc anyway. Suzuki used a disc valve engine in the GP125 which would go quite well i imagine, but i know what you mean about the YB style.
