can someone tell me how much fuel would be left in the tank when indicator points to the top of the reserve box section just above the empty sign? I've done 150 miles after filling in to the brim (including burping the tank) and the consumption display shows 13 miles/lt
Just need this to decide whether i can do the two way commute tomorrow before filling up (13 miles each way)

In my head there is just over a gallon left from the top of the red on a 2007+ 400 but I can't remember how that got in there or what it shoved out

I can get at least 175 out of a tank after about 5 burps at my worst consumpstion at 14.5.I Normally run at 15.4ish and aim to fill up at 150 miles, over that I keep a spare 5 litres in a can under the seat just incase.I ain't run out yet.

I start looking around for a fillup at 160, but I've gone to 170 a couple of times, though I've never run out. Mine's a 2005/6 so none of that fancy consumption/miles to go on mine!

Re: Quick question about fuel tank range on the burgman 400
It's about 3 litres. The tank holds 13.5 litres. I filled up when just into the red and it took 10.5 litres.
I would fill up now and see what it takes then you will know exactly how much is left. Currently the display says I get about 14.5-15.2 Miles per litre, but physically brim to brim I get much more.
Just for pure interest my 650 has a digital gauge and the book says 3 litres when the last bar flashes and 1½ litres when the tank symbol flashes. I tested the latter and after filling up I would say it still had over 3 litres left. The on-board UK mpg says 48 mpg but I get 57 mpg brim to brim.
So in my opinion their gauges are not that accurate.

Re: Quick question about fuel tank range on the burgman 400
Thanks all, I agree the gauge from bike to bike might also be different due to various positioning of their sensors. I only filled it up once when it was mid way into the white reserve box section and it took about 10.5 ltr. I am guessing there's at least 3 ltr left at the moment with the current needle position pointing right at the top of the box section.
3 ltr means a maximum 39 miles according to the on board computer showing i've averaged 13 mile/ltr so far. That would see me to work and back (25mls) with about a liter left.
Or i could be pushing it to the nearest station swearing to the gauge and on board computer tomorrow
))
Why am i being anal like this? Cause taking off my helmet, gloves, inner gloves, headphones off and filling up, then wallet out and paying, then logging on to fuelly to update the stats, then wearing all that stuff back is a big hassle in the morning rush... It's easier to handle all that coming back home...

Odometer at 165 miles this morning and the fuel needle is bang in the middle of the reserve box. I wont risk it much more and get some fuel within the next 5 miles or so going back home tonight...

Re: Quick question about fuel tank range on the burgman 400
I've been to 185 miles before a refill when she was averaging 16.1 miles per litre on mixed riding (73.09 mpgs). I still had over a couple of litres left. That was mixed riding. I've gone 180miles on other occassions and yet still had 3 litres left when she has been showing 16.9 miles per litre (76.7mpg). That was on my last run to Birmingham for Frating in Essex with speed varying from 60-75mph and ridden solo. I always burp the tank just twice to get air out. I would do it more but I get bored very quickly with tedious tasks!!

Probably not ugly enough for the 'Ugly Bunch'!

Re: Quick question about fuel tank range on the burgman 400
It's cold, so the mixture is enriched by the cold weather sensor, my old Burgman (crying while writing this, heated seat, grips and electric screen) was showing 6 miles per litre, on start up and for the first mile or so. Stop start in cold weather will use more fuel. BTW, I've got a NC700 now, and I made a decision to never bother measuring fuel economy, I just know its good so I consume whatever. The S-Wing does 23 mpl. and I use that, when I need to save money.
