Re: Heated grips
dave, the heated grips on all Suzuki's take a long time to warm your hands even when on full power. They are all like that. I switch mine on and it takes around 5 miles before I can really feel the heat. If your gloves are thick it may take longer. My Vstrom1000 GT was the same and my Burgman is identical. I've ridden the 650 with the factory grips and they too were just the same. The one thing that is good about the Suzuki heated grips is they are indestructible and just keep on working year after year after year, whatever you throw at them. I've had Oxfords too and they often pack up within a couple of years if you use them a lot. Without my gloves on the Suzuki grips get almost too hot when they've been on for a while.
Probably not ugly enough for the 'Ugly Bunch'!

Re: Heated grips
Thanks for that Data, exactly what dealer told me.My mate recently bought an 1800 mile 2013 Burger 650 and grips wouldn't work had them replaced on warranty.I've been doing 4000 rpm max runs of 30 ish miles wearing decent thick winter gloves and feel no heat at all even when I stop the grips feel only warmish with bare hands

Re: Heated grips
I have factory fit heated grips on my 400 and they work OK for me.
They take a while in stop/start traffic because they switch off when you are stood still and heavily insulated gloves take a while for the heat to seep through but generally I'm happy with them.
Maybe I just got lucky

Re: Heated grips
That's a really good point that I forgot to mention to Dave bluebottle. If you do lots of around town or other stop start riding then they take a while longer to warm up because they do temporarily shut off. Mine work ok for me too, but I'm guessing that the different types of gloves we all wear make a difference as Dave is saying.

Re: Heated grips
I have a 650 Burgman, the grips kinda do their job,i had a great pair of winter gloves as well, which helped no end,but alas they died, had 'em for years,it took me ages to find a pair as good,i got a pair of IXS £90.00,i got 20% discount,so that helped,i tried cheap pairs £30.00,but not ŵorth a toss,so they will do for summer gloves.
I do have a pair of Gerbing heated gloves, which i wear if its really cold,i have the cable connected to the battery under the seat, knuckle guards would be nice, but the position of the mirrors will not allow them, same goes for muffs.

Re: Heated grips
It's not just Suzuki that fit rubbish heated grips.
Honda heated grips are just as bad.
Triumph are not too bad, BMW are about the best for original fitment.
Oxford grips are really good and they have power in reserve.
I use heated Gerbing gloves, they are much better than grips.
But they are a pain being wired to the bike, but they work brilliantly
