screen "extension"

Post by isbfan »

The screen that is fitted to my 1999 burger 400 would be perfect if it were say 2" higher, as then I would eliminate all wind buffeting. I don't particularly want to change the screen until I have discovered whether anyone is aware of an extension that could be fitted to the top. I'm a reasonable handyman and could try making one myself if there are no off the shelf ones.

Any ideas?

I have just made one for my Triumph using a Chinese ebay screen supposedly for a Harley. Cheap enough for some trial and error. I have mounted it with the rubber type expanding nuts along with extra grommets. Carefully drilling holes with new HSS bits went OK using plenty of masking tape over the Perspex to protect it and to mark out. The material can be trimmed to size using a jigsaw with a fine toothed blade. The rubber nuts are sometimes described as 'wellnuts' which I suspect is a corruption of Weldnuts unless anyone knows better.

Had the Wave for a couple of months. Lots about it on the C90 forum.
Enfield is "resting" with the head off ATM and is going to be sold in the spring..
I'll pop a review of the Wave in the mini Muppets section.

Here is my cheaper solution as described above

Not actually fitted to the Kymco ( which has a decent screen to start with) but tested at 90mph and exactly correct height for me. Total cost using Chinese stuff from Ebay about £20.
