Burgman 650 mudguard bolt removal

Post by Francley40 »

Evening People,

I wonder if you can help me, please.
I tried to remove the front mudguard, which hasn't been off in ages, and found that the front-left bolt has seized.
Despite greasing it when I put it back last time it's stuck and the piddly allen head has rounded off.
Under normal circumstances I'd cut a slot in the head but, as you can see, the bolt is recessed into the mudguard.

Does anyone have a (sensible) suggestion for resolving this, please?

Many thanks.

Drill the centre and use a bolt extractor.

bolt extractor. will just snap unless it is very old when they were made of real metal..

Hammer in the next size UP torq bit that should do it..
Is the wheel out or still in the forks? get some spray ( WD40 ) [other brands are available]
in between the plastic mudguard and the fork tube as well as at the bolt head, all helps it
seep through.

Centre drill it and get a left hand drill bit smaller than core size of thread and force of drilling should bring it out
