Thanks for all the info guys, take the bulb out and buy a pen torch is the way to go I think.

I replaced my Tmax underseat light with an LED strip that is stuck directly on the under side of the seat so in the dark it shines down rather than across and in my eyes, it makes it so much more functional in that I can see what I am doing much better.

Having removed the bulb from all my scooters' underseat lights I use one of these simply because I'd already got a couple; it is useful both for under the seat and in the top box.

The Burgman 650 has an on/off switch for the underseat light,I use that
