Service costs and intervals Burgie 400 2018

Post by toriaoxford »

Can anyone tell me the true interval for the Burgie 400 (2018 version) - some people say 6,000 but others (dealers, so guess they're right) say 3,500 and that the 14,0000 mile service could cost up to 1,000 UK pounds - sounds rather steep. Almost makes the Burgie 650 cheaper to service (albeit that it costs 3k more to buy!)!! Thanks for your help chaps.

A pathetic 3500 miles on a 650 so likely same on a 400,Suzukis way of squeezing a few more pounds out of you why else do you think they give “extra” years warranty and yes mega expensive for a “big” one ie valve clearances ( that won’t need adjusting lol )

I cannot imagine Suzuki would be going backwards with their service regime on the Burgman 400. The older version was every 3750 miles for an interim oil change (no filter required at this point) and just a check over the bike for loose nuts and bolts. Then a full service every 7500 miles. Belt and rollers at around 14,500 miles. But that would never go anywhere near £1000 at the dealers. I think someone has badly misinformed you. The new bikes are bound to be similar or longer intervals between services. Why not look in your handbook. It's all in there as to the frequency of the services and your dealer can tell you the exact cost of each service as they use menu service pricing.
Probably not ugly enough for the 'Ugly Bunch'!

Been riding for 54 years & owned too many bikes to list here...

Just had the first MOT on 2015 400.
Bikes done 10,300 miles.
I’ve serviced it myself from new (really easy, oil and filter and inspection every 3,600).
Fitted a K&N air filter at 3,600 too.

Took the opportunity to get full check over by local independent garage at MOT.
They did the following;
Oil & filter
Cleaned K&N
Fitted iridium plug.
Stripped brakes and copper greased etc.
Checked belt and sliders
Changed brake fluid
Changed transmission oil
Checked coolant
General inspection
MOT

TOTAL COST £275

Cheap and easy to service yourself and every two or three years get an independent to service the rest.
Great bike and had no problems during ownership :D

I only get mine done at dealers to preserve the warranty, and yes I know I don’t have to use a Suzy dealer
