Burgman Transmition noise

Post by Gerard C »

Hi My Sons Burgman 400 2014 is making a bit of a strange noise. Its almost a knocking from the transmition. My local mechanic thinks it could be linked to the Variator. The pulley weights are showing signs of wear. Has anyone got a suggestions as to the best way forward?
Do we look for a new unit? Do we look at changing the weights? If its the latter then ideally he would like to cut back on the top end revs even at the expense of some acceleration.

What miles as it done? as the veriator ever been off?
Doctor Pulley weights in the next to standard weight up would likely drop the revs enough,
I think mine had 18gr as standard and ended up with 20g but you need to check that as it's a few years
since I had one in bit's. with the 20g ones it reved a little higher round town but lower over 50 mph.
think if I was to do another I would go to 21g but no further.
I asked about the miles as it may be getting belt replacement time o.r if it's been done could the veriator be loose
