A belt every 6000 how come it was changed so low?
What ever it's been it was not cheap to run.

That's some mileage for the time it's been on the road!

Weird.
My 2015 has original belt at 12,500. Checked recently and still at least 2-3,000 left. Rollers are fine.
Can’t understand the need to change so often?

Just wondering, how much of that was done under warranty?

Impressive mileage, 700+ a week!

toon, frankly...that's amazing. Never ever have I come across a 400 of any year giving it's owner such a hard time. Belts normally go 15000 Mike a piece, as do rollers. As for your other troubles with the bike, I'd say it's a one off bike! I have owned and ridden the 400 and untill recently serviced 3 others all with massive mileages on them (between 70,000 to 90,000 miles). None of them had any problems at all....sorry to hear this.

Mr Data have you ever had to reshim a dohc 400 after doing valve checks if so what miles did they go out of spec .Just brought a 400 with 35 k on clock no history .

Hi Julian, yes I've shimmed DOHC motors on several occasions. The first one belonged to a friends wife and I checked the valve clearances at 14,500 miles, it's first major service. Both exhaust valves were too tight and not within the spec. She still ran ok though and you would not have known the valves were tight but I reckon trouble was just around the corner on that one. Put that right and then another B400 came in a few months later with 50k on the clock and it had never had the valves checked the owner told me. Three valves were all out of spec and all too tight. It was just affecting the motors idle when hot. Went like a rocket once they had been re-shimmed.

If yours hasn't had the valves checked Julian, or you don't have it's history, then do the check straight away. That is really easy and quick to do. If they are out of spec then re-shim. It's an easy job as you prolly know.
