Does anyone know if I will need an International Driving Licence in order to take my Burgman down through France this summer? If so, how do I get one?

If no deal you may do I'd wait till end of march to see for sure .

From post office on demand over the counter .

You shouldn't for at least 2 years but as stated fill the form in at any 'good' post office counter and they fill it in there and then costs £5.50 as I recall. You'll need a passport size photo

It's actually worth having as most European countries expect production of photo ID if requested by authorities so is handy

We still have our paper licences without photos, they were checked by police in a random check in France last summer and no comments made?

Should we change these? would we have to for the privelege? We will be in France for june d day celebrations

Had a live chat with DVLA who assured me no photo required for IDP and my current paper licence also ok, but if I wanted to change to a photo license it would cost £20

A down side to the photo licence is that the photo has to be updated evey 10 years, the updated licence is £20, if you forget to update the picture (no reminder is sent fron DVLA) you are effectively driving without a license which carries a fine of up to £1000.
