Re: Air Filters
They look pretty filthy.
Did you change the round one as well?
I think I better have a look at mine but not done a great many miles in the last year.
I've got a k&n filter at the front. Don't think you can get re useable filters for the other 2 ?

Re: Air Filters
Well... I do ride it every day and have put nearly 6000 miles on her.
Round one did not get changed as I did not have a spare one, that and I daren't look
I was only working on the left side and front today, will look up to see how much the round one costs and also check out the manual to see what it says about whether I can blow it out or have to change it when dirty.

Re: Air Filters
A while back I had increase the idle, it was at 1000-1100, because I thought it was just the TMax needed a service... today I was sitting in traffic and noticed it is now idling at 1400, so when I got home and bumped it down to 1200ish must be the new filters as thats the only change (correct idle range is supposed to be 1100-1300).

Re: Air Filters
Having given the engine time/distance to adjust and some thorough testing my mpg has improved by about 15mpg

Re: Air Filters
Certainly makes a big difference. I just vacuumed my Burgman filter and I got another 4-6mpg! But it needs replacing now after another 3k miles. Are you still thinking you have a dodgy fuel pump or is that put to bed now?
Probably not ugly enough for the 'Ugly Bunch'!

Re: Air Filters
Can you explain to me why increasing airflow improves mpg.Data wrote:Certainly makes a big difference. I just vacuumed my Burgman filter and I got another 4-6mpg! But it needs replacing now after another 3k miles. Are you still thinking you have a dodgy fuel pump or is that put to bed now?
My brain can't understand why this would be, as I thought clever FI systems would increase fuel flow to maintain the desired A/F mix. So I can understand it may help overall output but how does that improve mpg, or is it something to do with efficiency?
Help!

Re: Air Filters
Interesting point. When I had my SH300 serviced, I was told the air filter was absolutely chock full of gunge, dirt and other shite, restricting airflow. The mechanics said 'you'll get much better mpg now' - but I didn't! As a rider I noticed no difference at all....poldark wrote:Can you explain to me why increasing airflow improves mpg.Data wrote:Certainly makes a big difference.
