That's a real shame. I know it's expensive to exhibit, but I'm sure exposing the 400i and 600i to the public in that way would advance Sym's standing in this country. It's a big show, the spin off would be substantial. Many motorcylists are on the cusp of deciding what to buy next and many are curious about making that leap to maxi scooters. In my own community there are several bikers who are in this position but want to buy a maxi with some guts, not a 300, not a 350 or 400 but 500cc upwards. Now the Silverwing is going to be defunct that narrows things and your 600i could fit the bill. Especially as the price looks right.
Probably not ugly enough for the 'Ugly Bunch'!

Been riding for 54 years & owned too many bikes to list here...

Has any announcement been made regarding the silver wing's future?

To exhibit and put on a reasonable stand costs circa £50,000

Do a cheaper one makes the brand look cheap

How many SYM's do I have to sell to recoup that?

If I sell 2000 SYM next year then I have to add £25 per unit to the cost - this is on top of all other marketing

It dont stack up

I would rather arrange better dealer open days and support with a demo test fleet

Sorry

Hmmm A lot of money. I guess it depends whether the end result would be effective or not. I've no idea whether exhibiting at a big show is useful raising brand awareness, or a vanity project, or whether the hordes who attend are really that interested in anything but sportsbikes & Harleys.

At least at a dealer demo event, you'd attract interested punters.

I think SYM has a lot more to offer than the uk riders think. I know the " big shows" like the NEC arnt cost effective, but the odd advert in "twist+go magazine isnt enough. Big open days, "lands end to john'groats on a symba",(for example) would make good article reading and build interest and confidence in the product.I think SYM deserve to be more mainstream in the Uk.
(Ill volunteer to do the symba end to end) ;)
Im not a gynecologist, but I dont mind taking a look.

More you advertise, the more you sell.
To compete with the big boys you need to actually enter the competition.
Get your range at all the big shows, so what if it adds £25

MR SYM

Really pleased you're still here answering questions. It's appreciated

Just noticed the SYM UK site quotes the 600i at 565cc is that correct?

http://www.symuk.co.uk/maxsym600/collec ... index.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I haven't lost my mind, it's backed up on tape somewhere.

Hi Mel

Yes it is correct at 565cc.

Was previously incorrect at 599cc, however knowing that SYM already produce a 565 and not a 599, I queried them and had it confirmed.... The motor in the MaxSym will indeed be 565.....

If I am correct, this will be the largest engined scooter in the UK other than from Japan - and even then only one of a very few!
