I'd also like to see the comparison in MPG between the 300 and 400.

I really like it, and it's good they have used a new colour. Pity the other two options are off white and grey. I see what everyone is saying about the exhaust, but the current 400's exhaust is just as large. And hopefully there will be more leg room on the 400 over the 300. As mentioned it won't be the leg room of the T-Max. At 6" it's a big consideration for me. Was tempted with replacing my X-Max for a 300 but now a new 400 is very tempting!

Differences are that the rear wheel is down from 14" on the 300 to 13" to accomodate the extra cc's and that for your extra £1k over the 300 you get +5hp, +28kgs (to cope with which there's an extra front brake disc) weight, a parking brake and what looks like a more comfy seat.
Call me biased, but I'd save the grand and stay with the 300...
I'm really liking the new xmax 300 but alas can't afford one at the moment if I could it would be between that or the new cruisesym 300. I agree though I can't see the point of the 400 over the 3. I should imagine that's why sym stopped doing the maxsym 400i because the weight/size over a joymax 300 is a disadvantage with only an extra 4bhp.

Re: Xmax 400 2018
The physical size of the machine is bigger as well as the engine size, so more advantage to taller riders. And there are a few more additions to the 400 over the 300. Parking brake, adjustable handle bars apparently! Different front forks. Maybe it's just me, but I really like it!!!I agree though I can't see the point of the 400 over the 300

Re: Xmax 400 2018
thats impressive MPG for a 300 auto, what sort of MPG would be expected on long A roads averaging 60mph (ish) Stephen????StephenC wrote:Specs of the 400 (395cc) versus the 300 (292cc) are below, taken from official pages.
There are a couple of surprising items in there, for example, the difference in ground clearance.
400/300
Torque 36 Nm @ 6000rpm / 29 Nm @ 5750 rpm
Seat height 800 mm / 795 mm
Wheelbase 1,567 mm / 1,540 mm
Minimum ground clearance 90 mm / 135 mm
Wet weight 210 kg / 179 kg
Front tyre 120/70-15 / 120/70-15
Rear tyre 150/70-13 / 140/70-14
There is no mention of Blue Core tech for the engine so I would be interested to see how the fuel consumption comes out in reality, but at least the officially released figures for the 400 are available:
Fuel consumption 4.18 l/100km (67mpg) & CO2 emission 96 g/km.
My own experience so far with the 300 is coming out at 99mpg. No idea what the CO2 is.

Re: Xmax 400 2018
I know. This Blue Core thing seems pretty special.
As for A roads doing 60 mph, well so far I would expect near 90mpg. But as I now only have 120 miles before I get full revs available I hope to let you know for sure very soon.

Re: Xmax 400 2018
Thanks Stephen, I'm really impressed with the Xmax, I'm really a Honda man, currently with an NC DCT, which I'm quite happy with at the moment, but My next change will be back to a mid sizes scoot. I had a Xenter 125 earlier this year and was impressed by the Yamaha build quality, so a xmax might be my next steed', do you ever ride with a pillion??StephenC wrote:I know. No, never carried a pillion so it's not been a consideration when choosing a bike.
