Specs of the 400 (395cc) versus the 300 (292cc) are below, taken from official pages.
There are a couple of surprising items in there, for example, the difference in ground clearance.
400/300
Torque 36 Nm @ 6000rpm / 29 Nm @ 5750 rpm
Seat height 800 mm / 795 mm
Wheelbase 1,567 mm / 1,540 mm
Minimum ground clearance 90 mm / 135 mm
Wet weight 210 kg / 179 kg
Front tyre 120/70-15 / 120/70-15
Rear tyre 150/70-13 / 140/70-14
There is no mention of Blue Core tech for the engine so I would be interested to see how the fuel consumption comes out in reality, but at least the officially released figures for the 400 are available:
Fuel consumption 4.18 l/100km (67mpg) & CO2 emission 96 g/km.
My own experience so far with the 300 is coming out at 99mpg. No idea what the CO2 is.

Re: Xmax 400 2018
The Xmax is seriously heavy isn't it! Like the Maj 400 before it, it's as heavy as a Tmax. Not quite sure why. The Bev 350, same power output, weighs 179kg according to handbook (no idea if that's dry or ready for road or what), though it feels heavy, or at least top heavy.
The quoted figure of 67mpg sounds quite realistic to me.

That exhaust probably accounts for 15kgs alone....MrGrumpy wrote:The Xmax is seriously heavy isn't it! Like the Maj 400 before it, it's as heavy as a Tmax. Not quite sure why. But steady on with that weight comparison. Piaggio IT website gives the wet weight of the Euro 4 Bev as 191kgs. Given that it is a big wheel style with a lot less bodywork, the benefit over the Xmax 400 isn't all that. The torque of the Bev350 is only the same as the Xmax 300 so it will probably accelerate slower than either Yam.
Oddly, the Bev rear tyre size is identical to the Xmax 300 so maybe it isn't a true big-wheeler after all?

1) - Yes it does...charles1976 wrote:Xmax 400 exhaust must weigh.alot! ...is it true feet forward riding?
2) - No, Not really on the '13 for 5' 11" and 34" inside leg...- you can put ya feet up - but your ankle is at a tight angle... not feet forward ala T Max... although the new platics on teh latest model may make it different...
EDIT: My 400 returns about 60 - 65 mpg on a stop start commute... 80's on a run...

Depends what you mean. On the 300, and the 400 is near identical, I can place my feet flat on the floor or raise up to the slanted areas above, where my knees are still bent but my feet are further forward than otherwise. This pic gives the right angle to see the raised bit of floor.charles1976 wrote:Xmax 400 exhaust must weigh.alot! ...is it true feet forward riding?

The Bev's 179kg is in my handbook, but things may have changed, and/or wet weights may be quoted now. The Bev is a real beast performance wise - at low speeds it seems nearly as grunty as the Tmax, and will happily bellow down dual carriageways at over 80 if desired. The Bev has a biggish front wheel, but smaller rear wheel, both in slightly unusual sizes.StephenC wrote:That exhaust probably accounts for 15kgs alone....

Re: Xmax 400 2018
Just noticed that compared to the figures in my handbook, the latest Bev seems to have lost a whole 2.3kw!! I'd be really peed off if I bought a new one and found that it'd lost significant grunt compared to the old one!StephenC wrote: But steady on with that weight comparison.
