I have had a Richa jacket for a couple of years which was pretty waterproof until I discovered a rip in the inner waterproof lining. So I recently bought a "Richa Rain Warrior Textile Motorcycle Jacket" off Amazon for £33 (and elsewhere). Does the same job as the Waldorf's kagoul but has all the reflective stuff, if that matters to you. :)

This must be a very similar thing....

Actually tried it out the other week - very effective and adds warmth as well, so useful to keep in the topbox or wherever just in case.

Yes it looks much the same, but I would categorise that as "a trifle sudden, sir." Mine has a lesser requirement for sunglasses.

Yes, its not subtle, but in the rain, something bright is probably pretty useful!

No recommendations for a replacement but 17 years...? You've had a good run from that. The most I've got from a jacket before it starts to leak is 5 years.

I've had Weise gear start to fall apart within 6 months, on more than one occasion. And don't get me started on Buffalo. Alpinestars on the other hand, I love. And Triumph.

Regular washing and reproofing with the appropriate stuff helps prolong the life of your gear, especially if it's in everyday use.

I commuted all year round and for severe weather and over my leather or textile jacket wore one of those HI VIZ jackets for under £20 similar to this:

You can also get warm padded ones for about £30 like this:
