Hmmm it might be cheap cos its a Part Ex the dealer wants shot of - but if he's asking not a lot, imagine how much he paid for it! In the end, any old scoot is a gamble and what is important is whether its seems to have been cared for and serviced properly. If it looks battered and scraped to hell and there's no service history, don't walk away - RUN!

Oh, I don't know. A battered and scraped to hell scooter is probably the best thing to buy if you're planning to commute or park it in a city centre (esp. London!)

But yes, make sure it runs properly. An easy thing to do to gauge its condition is to use the gov.uk site to check the MOT history.

This will tell you if it is taxed and MOT'd, confirming some basic details about the bike, too: https://vehicleenquiry.service.gov.uk/

MOT history (tells you what it has failed on) https://www.check-mot.service.gov.uk/

This is what one of my old 250cc Quasar engine Pugs comes up with when you use the latter link above (this was a 2015 test, the last two it has passed :) )

Reason(s) for failure
•Front Steering headbearing has excessive free play (2.2.2)
•Front Brake master cylinder fluid level dangerously low (3.2.B1d)
•Front Hydraulic brake control feels spongy (3.1.4a)
•Rear Rear wheel bearings have excessive free play (2.4.A.2c)
•Front Tyre valve stem damaged which could cause sudden tyre deflation (4.1.2c)
•Roller brake test The less effective brake control does not achieve an efficiency of 25%. (3.3.A2b) Dangerous

Advisory notice item(s)
•Front Brake pad(s) close to minimum limit (3.2A1f(ii))
•center stand pivot excessively worn
