Ordered my new X-Max 400 today!!

Post by mac65 »

Just been to the local Yamaha dealer today and done the deal on a new X-Max 400 in Phantom Blue. Added Yamaha heated grips as well. Now just a 3 week wait! One question, does anyone know the best way to look after a matte paint finish? Thanks!
enjoy eXtra to the Max

my SH 300 is matt, after looking into different polishes I read autoglym is fine to use on matt finishes. Ive used it with great success . Polish the plastics as you would any other finish , just dont expect a shine, then when its dirty and you wash it, the dirt comes off so easy, leaving a showroom finish. It saves so much elbow grease! :)

I have the matte paint on my 67 plate Yam N max. I've had the bike since Sept now and am washing it regularly. I'm using a new sponge and a chenille pad with high quality shampoo.

I wondered about how to clean the matte finish but I think Mac, that you'll be surprised at how easy it is to keep clean with just a quality shampoo and new cloth/sponge. I follow up with a water rinse but don't wipe it down with a chamois.

It stays looking matte and as new with just this regime. No polishing (Horobags has cleared that up for you) :D , or dusting off and I admit to being careful not to touch or rub the paintwork, simply because I am not used to owning a matte finish on a bike.

It is looking good after 6 months of almost daily use, throughout the winter too.

Thats a very good question,i like the Tmax DX,only comes in matt black or matt blue,so how to clean it would be one of my questions to any dealer trying to sell me one........

Is this the stuff Mark? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Autoglym-Body ... SwaeRZNn6t

I never realised that the matt finish might require a different approach to cleaning.
