Went to fit some handguards on the SH300 this afternoon

Post by rossm »

Should have been a straight forward job, but (always a but) they don't stick out just quite far enough that they get hit by the brake levers when pulled (I have aftermarket adjustable levers so that may as well added to it).

A bunch of washers should fix the issue but didn't have many floating about the garage, so have ordered some up and shall fir them later this week.

The Honda ones are rubbish. They're brittle and don't give you full coverage. They'll only protect you from wind, not against hits.

Fitted the Honda ones this morning and tried them out on a short run. I'm not too worried about a hit as long as my hands are out of the wind - and they seem to do the job ok. Now the screen's on I suspect I'll have to cut it down a bit as I don't fancy looking through plastic in the rain. Getting the panels off to fit it was quite a job. The instructions with the screen (and those in the manual) on removing panels aren't too helpful - I used a broad wall-paper scraper to prise them off. The screen doesn't do much for the scoot's looks, but it's a good solid fitting and should keep the cold off my old bones. If anyone's interested, the instructions are here: http://cssportal.css-club.net/honda/MCA/TERMS010.aspx

If anyone is requiring a screen and guards for the sh300i model 2011-2014 then dobles have a set reduced in price at the moment
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Genuine-OEM-H ... Sw44BYGQ1d
I have no connection with dobles
