Sorry Keith - these generic questions are unanswerable - insurance is all about risk

I get my quotes here but as Symcity says, it's not just a question of total cost. There's the type of cover, your age, driving history, voluntary excess, NCD, location, where it's kept and other things the insurance people dream up. Answer accurately, they are just itching for an excuse not to pay up should you claim.

Hi Keith. £800?? I think it's the insurers that are trying to take the piss. Have you got a few years no claims? I think you're just a bit older than me and I paid £170. I've got 7years+ no claims . That price covers me for both my 08 and 12 reg Tmax, fully comp. The insurers said they have to be garaged.
I know you're going brand new but it shouldn't be much more.

Ridinhigh - sorry if I was a tad abrasive however as suggested try using the Insurance comparison sites like http://www.gocompare.com or http://www.comparethemarket.com - I recently got my renewal invitation from Devitts and it had increased by almost 50 per cent - using the comparison sites I got it back down with a lower excess

£800 does sound far too much, I think I pay £250 for two Tmaxs and think that's too much, but as others have said, it depends on how much NCB you've got, where you live, any accidents or convictions, CCJs, etc etc.
If you've got no NCB, a conviction for dangerous driving and live in a rough bit of London, it'd be a bargain!!

Look at Bennets too. My quote came through this year and it wasn't even worth looking around. £90 it was, full comp and protected no claims
