Definately din't need the original key to close it. You can shut it with any key or even a large flat headed screwdriver or anything that will fit in that hex.

Honda have it as well brilliant way to stop people glueing up the ignition or starting it

Haven't SYM also got the keyhole shutter on some of their models.
I don't know about the other models as I haven't looked, but the Maxsym has one. I don't bother with it as it's too fiddly and I have an immobiliser fitted. Secure enough for me with a good padlock and chain. I didn't bother with it on either of my Burgmans either for the same reasons.
