Hi I sometimes, on set off, get a strange metallic scritching at the rear of my Silverwing, I think maybe the clutch.
I`ve done the 4K revs brakes on de glazing job, which helps for a while but its come back even worse.
I think the bikes picked up I`m happier with it since my new tyre has helped out handling and comfort wise and was running lovely and smooth so thrown one at me today as worse than usual.
I`ve done 5500 miles on it but its always been lurking so to speak and pops up when in the mood.
Strip and clean ? new pads ? harder or softer spring ?
Whole new unit ? possibly, and anyone else had it please. Sets off fine but sounds very nasty.
Thanks in advance, Mark.

Hi is there a way to do that without dismantling the clutch.
I looked at it when we did the belt but looked a bit serious !!!!
Thanks Mark.

Piss easy just the nut in the middle of the hub about 19mm (ish) I can’t remember exactly and the whole thing slides off I bet your shoes are glazed, I have an electric impact wrench which zips them off (variator to) then simply re torque up, you’ll need a holding tool for the variator to re torque the rear brake is sufficient for the rear torque.

Also in the middle of the hub are needle roller bearings make sure there packed with grease as Honda in their wisdom omitted this on some and the bearings failed resulting in noisy clutch assemblies and worse mine was ok it should spin freely on the shaft with no play [emoji106]

Thanks, we made a tool out of wood and two bolts when we did the belt.
Just been looking at a Malossi Clutch as its getting me twangers all frazzled !!!!
The variaor doesn`t need to come off too does it.
Maybe I should flog a grandchild etc and get some 26G dr pulleys while in there !!!
Best Mark.

Not sure you need some play on the belt to get it out the clutch assembly so possibly, approach the job thinking you need to it’s easy enough as you know if you don’t it’s a bonus [emoji106] takes longer to remove all the plastic covers than to do the job

Thanks, yes the covers are a giggle.
I see a Malossi is £157 delivered, not too bad if it sorts it.
I`ll try a deglaze and clean first though. Appreciate all the advice.
Best Mark.
PS do you think the noise heralds any danger at all I ahve visions of bits flying about and jamming etc.
Must admit since I put the City Grip on the Silverwing I am a little back in love.

I saw that post I will try them on mine as mine are nearly toast, no danger imo if you head over to you tube you will see an American chap who does the operation and cures the issue the thing to check is the needle rollers are greased while your in there.

Re: Scritching at rear of the Silverwing.
Hi Racing Planet in the UK from thier EU base do the Malossi Clutch for £143 delivered.
But I`m waiting to see hear back from Malossi the bite and drop off RPM`s.
Hoping to get the summer out of mine at least then do it in winter.
Anyone know someone please who might have a good clutch bell or even whole job please 2nd hand.
I see you can get a new bell from Italy for about £120 delivered so not too bad if needed.
Best Mark.
PS yes the City Grip on the rear is the best thing ever on the bike so far. £47 delivered from Oponeo for one. Getting one on the front when I can. But they do feel odd in wet weather sometimes, but OK. Some people love them in the wet.

Well it was £47 keep an eye it will go back down but well worth the £49 too.
