Rear Brake Oddity ?

Master cylinder piston is letting fluid get past it, vibrations from the bike make it pump ever so slightly and put the brake on..
The fix is a master cylinder repair kit about £25 from WEMOTO

PPS had a quick look theres the handle bar one plus another slave I think type one elsewhere ?

When repairing brakes the trick is to be extremely careful with metal surfaces (the bores & cylinders must not get damaged in any way & they're easy to scratch by using the wrong tools for instance) & to be be fastidious with cleanliness (a couple of cans of brake cleaner are useful here). Removing brake cylinders is easiest by using the hydrailic pressure to pop them out. However if in anyway unsure then get a proper wrenchmonkey to do them for you as they are fiddly & getting brake fluid on paintwork destroys it.

I've not had a Honda master cylinder apart, but again they'll be much the same as any other, think fiddly & messy & keeping everything spotlessly clean.

Brakes also need bleeding properly & can be a pain on linked systems (memories of them on a Moto Guzzi & Aprilia Atlantic).

Ideally you'd make good use of a workshop manual (I don't yet have one for the Silverwing but have lots for past bikes).

Hi Thanks I am hoping to maybe source a newy actaul master cylinder so a quick swap over if I can.

But might fall back on doing it myself if I need to refit the old one.

However I can feel the take it to the bike chap vibes coming over me.

They don`t very often usually.

At least the brake works when needed, so as the front is now OK with ne wpads in I can at least use the bike mainly using the front one and engine braking for now, thats something.

Mind you here on the Northeast coast we have been in a sort of mini micro climate global cooling period, mist and wet and sub 10 degrees etc the last few weeks.

Hi bought a handlebar master cylinder and lever from a later bike.

I decided rebuilding one was probably beyond me.

Does anyone know what the other cylinder is please. And or where ?

Never had a delay valve go bad on me so never gone looking for them. Saying that I've found them whilst doing other things, usually under the front plastics on a scooter. You should concentrate on the master cyclinder first as that & the brake caliper pistons are the bits that usually have problems.

Make sure you bleed the brakes properly, there is often an order to do it in (hence why a workshop manual is useful).

The 2016 master cylinder is on the way.

Same price posted as the honda rebuild kit to buy, hope its Ok.

Love this flippin bike so hope it works out.

Anyway ( probably Bern ) know the rear brake beelding proceedure on a silverwing or hints and tips etc please.

Bleeding the rear brake procedure is,

Bleed at LOWER nipple on front caliper, them bleed at rear caliper.

The UPOER nipple on the front caliper is for bleeding front brake.

The load proportioning valve is the bit with three pipes bolted to the steering yolk (triple tree as the call it in the USA)
