Hi guys, !

I’m in France and I created an account just to share some info.

Last week I bought a preowned DX Tmax, and the exact same thing the OP described happened to me.

I got the Tmax to my friend who runs a garage, the Vodafone box was faulty. Since it’s August (vacation etc...), his mechanic suggested to shunt the Vodafone and wait for September to order a new box.

He did it & now I can start & enjoy my Tmax without this s***** Vodafone box. I hope the new one will be updated!

Cheers

JustToSayHi firstly welcome. Could you please explain
"suggested to shunt the Vodafone".

Hi,

By shunting the Vodafone box I mean he rerouted the wires so the start doesn’t need to be validated first by the box. Just a kind of neutralisation if you want

Sounds the best suggestion so far!! Pretty poor by the Swedish Yamaha garage or Yamaha not to work out this workaround. I think I'd leave it 'neutralised' permanently....

You’re welcome! I’ve owned all the Tmax models, and I must say that i’m less and less confident with all these electronic mess, keyless system included: just have a look at the manual procedure when the keyless is down, it really sounds like a joke - open the seat 3 times, slap your face, make a flip - ok I’m exaggerating, but still, I regret the good old key...

Peace guys

You aren't exaggerating much....doing it under stress by the roadside would be a farce!

Well having read through this whole thread for the first time, I have to say...
a) Thank goodness the XMax 300 doesn't have this nonsense installed (the keyless system appears to be quite enough faff, compared to just sticking a key in a keyhole and turning it).
and b) I'm glad I've never bothered getting a smartphone!

I love the keyless thing. You can open the seat without having to turn the bike off . When I had a problem with a stiff ignition key I was told it would need a complete ignition system £1500 !! I graphite greased it and in the end PX'd it for the Mk6
