Campervan Scooter

Post by Scootypuff snr »

Hopefully there are a few seasoned travellers on here can help.

Having sold my French dream home (read building nightmare :o ) and unsure where to move to next (Charante Martime looks good) we've bought a secondhand camper van to tour France and look harder for a dream home & see how Brexit is going to screw over us folk.

So those who camper van am I right in thinking to carry a "solo" diagonally across the rear (like you do push bikes) I would have to upgrade the rear suspension and get a specialist company to fit hydraulics to raise lower the solo.

whereas if I was to buy a bike trailer I can tow up to 600kg (trailer & bike together) and tow bars aren't that expensive. I know the X-ADV is to heavy to lug about so might have to go SH300/125

Electric bicycles are being considered as the bike rack is already fitted.

I'll also be selling a good quality caravan when I get it back from France but as I can't tow a caravan & solo

How often would you want to go beyond the range of an electric bike?

I was looking at something like this,
http://www.easylifter.co.uk/Non-Lift-Scooter-Rack.htm

there's also an auto version. Means I can get rid of the bloody bicycle rack as well

Maybe time to buy another VanVan should never have sold my last one

Harv, how you doing..?? Been looking at electric push bikes for some time now,and did have a go on one from Halfords.
Its a Carrera crosscity one, bloody brilliant, got to be fold-up to go in back of car,its much better then some I have picked up,the weight is up front/lighter/cheaper by lots so easy to ride.
£700 when you look at it,is it worth it..?? But I rode it,oh yes,it is.Or pm sent.
Old honda sh125.

I know you mentioned upgrading the suspension but I would check before committing
if it can be done to the extent you are thinking of, many campers are very close to
the max axel and weight limit of the vehicle before you even start.

Lots of interesting stuff on Google Images if you type 'motorcycle trailer with castors' in the box.
