I never underatand the blast and nothing but blast bikers.

I was out on a 2 hour toodle on the silverwing tonight and rarely went over 45, often 35-40 as such a lovely evening.

I stopped in Bilsdale,N Yorks to look at a lovely sunlit view and 2 speed and noise merchants went past me at gawd knows what speed.

Thing is I was stopped on my side of the road right in and they both zipped past me nearly touching and what a noise and one literally must of been an inch or two off me. The other side of the road was completely empty.

You can get some very close moments from those bikers if you move over for a pothole or pheasant etc as they are literally going so fast you just don`t see them.

Car drivers seem to give you much more room, even if they do try a speedy passing move.

Doubt I could fit in to leathers either too.

Saturday, or Burgman day is fast approaching.

Best Mark.

PS good advice on the stopper bolt.

Ok, so had the bike for about 5 hours, done 100 miles on it and I absolutely love it.

It's exactly what I was looking for. Chuffed to bits.

Things I love:
  • Size, I love how big it feels (that's what she said)
    So smooth with effortless power
    Comfort
Ride quality so much better than 125 Xmax I had
    Wind/weather protection is great
Storage is fantastic (with added top box)
Only two niggles:
  • Screen not quite high enough for me, will try the extender I have or perhaps get a clearview screen for it.
Seat a little firm, was totally fine today but I reckon on a long haul I might need the Wild Ass (Airhawk clone).
All in all, it's near perfect for what I need.

Xmax traded in, CB500X will be sold now.

Here are some pics of the Burgie.

I have named the bike 'Jade' after my cat!

Thanks, I'll check that.

So they STILL haven't fixed that! I found it was just about OK at highest position. I bought a clearview screen - it was good but VERY expensive.

I sold it and put the OE one back on again. I've no idea if it fits the facelifted later models.
How much higher was it than stock? If it fits facelift model, I'd be interested in buying it.

Sounds like you really did the right thing.

Is it better than the BMW you test rode then ?

I very nearly went for one last year but my garage is over grass, up a hill etc etc.

Probably be OK with a 400 Burgman, just about manage with the Silverwing but have the odd monent.

But I do find on the flat I can easily walk the Silverwing backwards or forwards, even on a slight slope.

Might struggle on a 650 Burgman ?

I still think the small scooter manufacturers should do swinging arm scooters for any size.

Struggle might not be word for it -the Burger would probably win!! It does weigh 280kg, and there's a lot of rolling resistance when cold.
