T max mk 6 heated grips have gone from menu ?

Post by tmaxrobbo »

Hi guys .My Mk 6 had heated grips fitted from new . It’s not a DX so they were retro fitted , but use the menu button to activate. Today they disappeared from the menu and nothing happens on repeated menu button pressing. The menu butto works as you can scroll through the other settings . Took panel A off fuses look ok but there is no fuse for the grips. The mechanic told me at fitting it was plug in and go . Any one had this ? No other faults , odd as they worked this morning then coming home from work it’s as if they were never there .

Hmmm! Another reason why I didn't bother with the Yam grips and went for something with a real switch!
Sounds like a software issue. Kind of like there was a software update that didn't recognise the grips, or maybe the system reset itself to factory settings for some reason and forgot the grips were there. Did you customise the menus / displays at all? If so, it'd be interesting to know whether these custome settings are still there or whether they have defaulted to factory settings. Back to the Yamaha dealer I suspect.

That’s my thinking . Popped into the dealer yesterday , the t max tech was not in but a sales guy said it’ll be a fuse. There isn’t a fuse it’s plug and play . Anyway it’ll wait a few more days until he’s back, not quite cold enough yet

So scooters are now so complex that they need specialist 'techs' to fix them !! I've got a couple of minor issues with mine that dealers don't seem to be able to find, let alone fix, and what with this issue and the Vodafone app problems, I'm beginning to worry that the Tmax mk6 is just too complex for dealers to maintain....though most current mechanics probably learnt their craft on BSA Bantams!

true . The Tech has been off ill for a while now . Just changed the oil at 3776 miles and its running better than ever even with the cold grips

...and it wouldn't be so bad if Yamaha were a sure source of technical expertise. They seem to know less than the dealers!
