Burgman M-type pic (manual gears)

Post by Bluebottle »

The Burgman M Type (manual shifter) is occasionally mentioned in the forums.
7 speed, 250cc Burgman for JDM, extremely rare in Europe, possibly none in US (?)

Spotted this one in Japan and took a pic of the controls if anybody is interested.

Type M electronic cvt in action.
You can see the clogged wheel stepping the gear ratios on the left hand pulley instead of weights.

Intriguing....but what's the point? Is just the dubious pleasure of changing your own gears?

Well, the machinery usually does a better job of it! The 'manual' option on the Burgman 650 was a complete pain in the butt to use. I didn't try the manual option on my X-ADV test ride - and I suspect that very few riders with the DCT gearbox actually do use it at all regularly.

Nice find Bluebottle. Thanks for posting.

How you doing mate? Havent' spoken for a while. Not been on Burgmanusa for a while, been too busy with retirement and doing my pilot re-assessment training on single turbine to get my full licence back after all that eye surgery and stuff. Just having issues with my trigometry at the mo for some reason. :o I'm going to the Birmingham NEC in November for the bike show. I tend to go during the week because it's quieter. Probably coming up on the GTS Vespa. Will you be going do you think? Could be the possibility we meet up briefly for lunch up there if you want to.
Probably not ugly enough for the 'Ugly Bunch'!

Sorry chaps, things got a bit hectic and was too busy to log in.

I’d really enjoy a meet-up in person data; mini meet would be great, if somebody sets a date I will try to be there (still in a busy phase).
