Honda Silverwing Bulb fitting, tips please.

Post by XP500FUN »

Well I took the old beastie in for its MOT the other day and shock, horror, it failed.

The first bike I`ve had fail in 20/30 years. In fact I can`t remember one before.

Somehow between setting off and then restarting a few times in the garage the top headlight bulb had decided to go !!!

So got 10 days to sort that out from then, to get one in so to speak.

I`ve ordered one of the Osram X Racer ones that claim to be for bikes and anti vibes etc ? !!!

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1X-OSRAM-H7- ... 2749.l2649

Really appreciate any tips etc in advance, which bits come off etc or handy best ways etc please.

Many Thanks Mark.

Remove the two screws hiding in the air scoop at the front, remove the screw at the bottom each side of the windscreen (inside) remove 'boomerang' (it does/should have a couple of tabs so requires a bit of fiddling) .... then start scratching your hands & swearing obout the lack of working space/vision

Oh Dear right will do thanks.

Shame it wasn`t the bottom one as seems much easier ?

Is the boomerang the black plastic bit at the bottom of the screen ?

Many Thanks Mark.

Why is changing bulbs such a faff anyway? What's wrong with the old fashioned 'remove a few screws, take the lens out, take the old bulb out, replace it with the new one then put the lens back in' method? Why does it have to involve taking half the front end off? Maybe it is to create more business for the dealers, as some either cannot face all the palaver or (like me) are guaranteed to cock it up so take it in to be done.
