No, unfortunately I've never bothered with a car license either. I think you've probably hit the nail on the head though- however I've got a gammy wrist and clutch control proved to be an absolute nightmare for me when i tried previously, hence sticking to auto's. Its a bit of a dilemma!

Just in case you haven't seen it, this links to a flowchart of how to get a licence

When I did my test, you could take the test on a 125 and ride a bigger bike/scoot in due course, but sadly that's not possible now.

James, there's also the Peugeot Metropolis 400 trike. It's a completely new bike for 2018 with stronger lighter frame, better engine, bigger wheels etc etc. Styling looks almost the same as the earlier model but it's not quite the same. It has a bit more onboard room for your feet with the footbrake being mounted in a better position over the MP3. It makes it more comfortable to ride over big distances as you can adopt a more natural foot position during a ride. It's also a bit less complex than the MP3 at the front and marginally lighter. It gets great reviews by everyone that rides one and owns one. And...it will save you a grand or more at least. Do you have any Peugeot dealers in your area?

There are quite a few folks that run CBT classes and tests that keep a fleet of 125 bikes for those that don't have one to use. Maybe have a look/ring around and go that route....
