X-Max Oil Service Warning Reset

Post by mac65 »

I've just done a 3000 mile oil change on my X-Max 400 (2018). But I am unable to reset the oil service warning from the dash. I have followed the instructions from the hand book. It resets the miles to 0 for the next oil change but the warning still flashes. Any X-Max owners had this issue? I have looked on line and others have had the same issue? Any ideas would be very much appreciated. :D

When you have it on the reset oil display and are at the point were it says hold the button down for 12 to 15 secs " not sure what the secs is without getting the book out" but you do have to hold it for between 12 to 15 secs 11 or 16 wont do, see it that works.

How long you hold down the button is critical. I even use a stop watch on mine.

Thank you for all the helpful replies, but the statement within the hand book still confuses me, " After changing the engine oil, reset the
oil change indicator and the oil change trip meter. To reset them both, select the oil change trip meter, and then push the “TRIP” switch for three seconds. While the oil change trip meter is flashing, push the “TRIP” switch for 15 to 20 seconds. Release the “TRIP” switch, and the oil trip value will reset to zero.
It states push trip switch for three seconds, then states then push trip switch for 20 seconds, so do I release trip switch after three seconds then repress it for 20 seconds, or do I hold it in for a total of 23 seconds? Sorry for being dim but it's frustrating the hell out of me! Cheers again!

The first 3 sec push is to get it into the flashing mode so you are looking at the oil trip you press the button for 3 secs and it starts to flash you realise the button, so the trip is sat there flashing, you now repress the button and hold for between 15 and 20 secs and realise it the trip should then reset.

I had a few goes before getting it right.

Thanks Ralph, it must be me as I have tried this so many times and with still no success, now thinking I will need to go to the dealer. I just can't believe that such a simple operation is so difficult to carry out. The miles have reset to zero, but I just can't get the warning to stop flashing! Thing is every time I use the bike then do the reset the mile return to zero! But warning still flashing. Thanks all again!

Sorry about not getting back to you guys about all your help, but been on night shift all week. So went down to Yamaha dealer this morning as I just couldn't get it to reset! And as you though Ralph I was indeed trying to reset the wrong trip. Mechanic had it sorted in minutes! Cheers again for all your assistance! This forum is brilliant, one question and so many people willing to help out! Great stuff! :D
