As title states what do folk do with their old crash helmets????
In my previous work I used to come across youth (& adults) who where just starting out so would donate my old gear to get them started.
I've left open face etc in foreign climes rather than bring them back as part of my luggage allowance (locals like brand names)
I gave the 2 I bought for MM in Malta to charity shop (Not sure if they sell or not)
I've seen the hanging basket idea (old shit in the garden doesn't appeal (but don't mind at the allotment )
So other than landfill (after my last clear out I filled a council bin) what's your solution (if any)
What do you do with your old lid?

I agree; the Emergency Services and medical volunteers can use them.

You could also enquire at your local CBT training school to see if they could make use of them.

Re: What do you do with your old lid?
Mine usually hang in the garage for occasional pillions (like a trip of a mile to the train station) and for if I want to test ride something I'm working on without traipsing upstairs to my wardrobe which is where my regular lids live.
I have occasionally stuck one in a suitcase to use for holiday scooter hire, and left it with the hire company or a local rider before heading back. Even a 12 year old Bell open face is better than 90% of the helmets used on most Greek islands!

Years ago, John Pardo and I took our old crash helmets to the local (Barnet) St.John Ambulance group; they were very happy to receive them for, as has been said, training purposes.
I have a vague memory that the suggestion was made during a BikeSafe weekend I attended.

Re: What do you do with your old lid?
I have a range of large coathooks running up part of my stairs. This was inspired by a very old TV ad for John Smith's which featured cloth caps for various uses including "His drinking cap". My unused helmets now live there along with my Beret Breton etc. Helmets in use have there own hooks in a rear porch with a charger for the Bluetooth.
Like others I have also exported a couple of full faced helmets. On my last visit to my son in Melbourne I took 30 kilos of riding gear (his and mine) and left it there. One notable omission was an air flow jacket, taking that and a flip front or open faced next time.
