Joymax 300 Thoughts

Post by XP500FUN »

There are plenty of reviews of these all over but be interesting to hear what a few people on here think.

Decided to go for a 300 i Joymax 2012 to about 2017.

Really interested to hear about anyone who has or had one.

Many Thanks Mark.

had the 250 gts (2009)an the 300 gts joymax (2012). an they were fantastic. they are a slightly more budget end. but do the same as something much more expencive . comfy , good on fuel. plus side they are also cheaper to replace parts. great lights too, plus has the spots aswell. which i used for running lights.

I own a 2016 Joymax 300 'sport' (Only real difference blue, short screen, no hump seat).
It's a very nice bike, plenty of storage, good on fuel 85-90mpg is my average. Fairly reliable, at present
it's in the garage having starting/idling issues. Hopefully just a sensor has gone. Other than that is has always
been fine in the 3 years/17000miles I've used it. I had the old GTS 250 which was very reliable and never let me down once
in the 7 years I owned it. It is happy on dual carriageways and motorways, it will cruise along at 70mph with some oomph left, though of course not as much as a bigger cc machine. It also has foglights -quite handy and I'm not sure if any scooters offer these as standard spec?

Only grumbles are the fuel tank filler is a very odd design, require pushing the pump in firmly to get the fuel in. Makes getting the last 1-1.5L a pain though. Speedo is mainly kph but the mph is easily readable.

It has changed slightly over the years. Early models were CBS(combined brakes) not ABS and lack stop/start. From 2014? onwards ABS & stop start was introduced. Not sure but I guess the 2017+ models will have the slightly less powerful euro 4 motor as used in the cruisym.

Would recommend one if you have a decent dealer nearby. Sadly SYM have lost there good value, at least purchase wise compared to the Japanese scooters. My GTS 250 cost £2999 new back in 2008. My Joymax was £4299 in march 2016. Now they are £4999.

Thanks people sounds like a goer. The old bod is struggling with the 600 weight especially in and out of the garage over rough ground etc.

Some very nasty moments last year.

I have to get my son to help me put it on the centre stand with the iffy hip.

I think I would go back 140 odd lbs on one of these.

That black one for 4K looks nice.

Might call them tomorrow re the Honda and see what they say.

Makes sense going for a dealer machine I think.

As long as the suspension is similar but not worse than the silverwing I think I`m decided.

I rarely get over 60 these days anyway, more usually 45-60 ish.

Many Thanks Mark.

PS dealer 30 miles away which is OK though nothing in there at present.

I owned a Sym 300cc scooter a couple of years ago - averaged 85 mpg - quality was equivalent to the Japanese brands
