I'm fairly excited, Vespa have a new engine for their 2019 range. https://www.vespa.com/us_EN/news-promo/ ... ngine.html
It's more powerful and there's an option with a fancy TFT display. And lairy yellow. Mmmmmmmm. I could be tempted back onto two wheels with one of these sweeties.

The only thing is - a 350 version has been touted of late - and then you’d fancy one of those

A 350 version has been touted for the last decade, though.

Piaggio have constantly denied that they are working on one, and have even displayed how shoehorning the BV350 powerplant into a GTS isn't feasible.

The yellow is snazzy, but personally I can't fathom why they dropped the orange colour for the GTS.

I did stumble across an Italian website that claimed there was a 350 Vespa coming in 2019 - not that I bothered to translate the Italian text, so I've no idea if it was a real claim or a flight of fancy. The 350 engine is fab, but I suspect its a very heavy engine - the Bev 350 was rather heavier than one might expect - so might be harder to make a Vespa 350 ride & handle the way you'd want.

I was under the impression that the 350 Bev engine simply doesn't fit the GTS frame. I suppose Piaggio would have shoehorned it in if they could have.

You did all see the bit that said the new "High Performance Engine" engine made 23.8hp?

Well I guess we should celebrate that they've finally updated it to just 3hp less than a 2007 Sh300. I mean, it was 6hp down before so there is progress. I understand that the Sh300 outsells Vespas in Italy, but it appears that Piaggio haven't heard about it.

Perhaps by 2030 they'll have managed a Yamaha Bluecore equivalent, with 28hp and 100mpg+ Ah, we can but dream..

Still. Yellow, eh?

I surprised that no one has mentioned the allure of the Yacht Club versions of the current range.

 Ah, sorry.

I'm afraid I am suffering from a lot of negative emotions of late, not really believing much of anything at face value and feeling the need to challenge claims. I won't mention why specifically but let's say that as a government official I have good reason to be pessimistic about many things recently.

No worries lol. I was born negative and older age hasn't reduced the emotion.

My impression is that Honda make scooters that Italians ride.

Piaggio make scooters that everyone else thinks the Italians should ride.

You are far more likely to get impaled by a dark grey SH300 than a brightly coloured GTS on the streets of Turin and Rome.
