XMax 300 - long distance tool?

Post by RobiXmax »

I am the happy owner of an Xmax 300, one year (only 3000 miles) in, mainly commuting which its proving to be ideal at (25 mile round trip) and a few longer trips. As the previous owner of big sports tourers I'm generally very impressed but Im interested to hear if anyone has taken his or her XMax 300 on some long distance rides, on holiday or even touring perhaps and how yo got on with maintaing higher speeds for longer durations, weather protection and economy etc. Thanks.

We went on a tour to Sicily 2 weeks ago. We took the Ferry from Malta. A group of 5, I was the only one on a maxi-scooter, the rest with 600-750cc bikes. First day was a 250km trip from the port in the south to the very north of Sicily. We stayed for 3 nights and 4 days and covered a total of nearly 1000kms. No problem for the Xmax 300, even in the mountains and hills of the area. We got up to an elevation of 1500m and the mountain roads with hundreds of curves were great fun on the Xmax 300. Super comfortable and with the great storage (incl top box), it was perfect these kinds of trips. We plan another one this year :)

Yes, no problem. Will cruise happily with main road traffic; overtake slower stuff; average around 95mpg + at main road speeds; and carry luggage while keeping you fairly dry and comfortable - a good bike.

I haven't done any touring but have done 300/400 miles in a day a few times,
it keeps up with traffic ok leg room is a little on the tight side but it is still
one of the most comfortable bikes I have had.

I've a 2014 X Max 250 and have no problems touring. Lower your expectations and enjoy. Last weekend saw a good number of Maxi Muppets visiting Rhayader for a great time. 450 odd comfortable miles at an average of 95.6mpg.

I averaged 2.6L/100kms which is 109mpg. The bike was ridden hard for much of the 1000km trip we made, fabulously low fuel consumption. Would be even more frugal ridden in a 'normal' way.

Last year I took my sh300i down to Koblenz returing via Luxembourg and the Belgian Ardennes area - magnificent trip and the scooter didn’t miss a beat - similar journeys on an xmax 300 should be a doddle
