Sh300i

Went to Ayrshire today to have a gander at a 2012 Honda sh300i with only 3628 miles on the odometer - to say that I was disappointed is an understatement - the rear shocks were covered in rust - the swing arm had been painted black to conceal the corrosion - front fork seals were perished - all in all definitely not worth the £2995 asking price by this Honda dealership

I think its the way they are stored, or where they are stored. My 2011 with 3k is mint, with just some light rust at the bottom of the shocks which polished out. Even the frame under the tuppa ware is mint.
Store a scoot away after a winter ride and it will start to corrode.

I’m approaching 18K miles and whilst the bike is running fine I’d perhaps be looking for a fine low milage example which has been well looked after - age not really a dealbreaker

SH300s are notorious for corrosion on fork legs wheels and the rear wheel side mounting plate thing. The pros outweigh the cons on these though. Took mine to 88k and regret selling it to be honest as it was still going strong.

I think also the euro 3 model is better than the new euro4 model with the tappety emissions valve that gets on your tits.

Mark - can you elaborate on this point - what is the difference between the two models

The 2 euro 4 models I had both had a tappety /ticking noise, a lot of owners on the Italian F/B owners page also complained about it, a lot putting it down to valve clearance coming in as the engine warms up. . Honda Uk refused to accept is was a fault, but it drove me nuts. My honda dealer agreed to change it as he agreed with me. The second one did it as well. :?
Apparently its an emisions valve that was added to get through euro4 spec, Im sure it doesnt do any harm but I found it unacceptable.
The euro 4 was getting an indicated 92mpg though.
My current euro 3 seems much quieter and a little quicker than the E4 model, the SH is a great light scoot with great performance.
