My 400 Burgman wont start!!

Post by burger uk »

My burgman wont start!! it was running rich and lumpy and not ticking over, now it wont start at all, it has a spark and fuel to the plug, anyone had a similar problem? it could be one of the many sensors at fault??

Sounds like mixture to me if it was running bad before. What colour is the spark plug? That will give you a clue as to whether it is too much or too little fuel.

It may help if you state wether it's pre 2003 or post 2003 as the F1 system and all its sensors will come into play in trying to consider what is wrong.

Ok it's rich. I'd check your air filter first too see if it's clogged and check the air line to the carb for blockages/squashed tubes.

air filter is new, pipes to throttle body look fine, not getting any fuel injection warning lights on on the dash, may try to jump the dealer mode plug to see if it throws any fault code on the odometer display. other thanthat, its a visit to the dealers!!  icon_shag.gif

Without the "FI" light coming on to show a problem there wont be any fault codes to read.

It's not a case of a pre K7 400 Burger eating it's oil via the crankcase breather/ Air Filter is it?

I'll try it, i tried the dealer jumper and as you rightfully say no fault codes, although i did manage to programme in a new key to the ecu!!! something dealers charge a fair bit for and it took minutes!!. i will see if i can locate the crank case breather filter.
