Daelim S1 125

Post by Drago »

I have just acquired one of these today. Quite a bargain for its price IMHO.

11.5hp 4valve injected motor.
Air and Oil cooled.
13 inch wheels.
Disc brakes front and rear.
9.5L fuel tank under the floorboard and filled from the front.
127kg dry weight so not to light or heavy.
1350mm wheelbase.
Combined brakes.
Digital odometer, fuel gauge and clock.
Analogue kph speedo.
12V outlet
£1999 brand new
4000km/2500mile service intervals. (on par with small Hondas I believe).

So I picked it up to day and the heavens opened a minute later  .
Of course having a new engine, brakes and tyres to bed in meant I couldn't really see what she could do
but overall I was impressed. The bike was very stable, the motor though still brand new was very eager. With half throttle
the scoot was holding 40mph without fuss. I opened up a little bit briefly and it soon reached 60mph, again with no fuss. I
reckon it will do 65/70mph once fully run in. Storage is good for a full face helmet, but the battery takes up a lot of room under
the seat. Small pocket with 12V outlet up front and a baggage hook.

The only negatives so far is the indicator lights are hard to see on the dash. But that's all I didn't like on my ride home with it. Also
without a screen I did get a little wetter than I would on my Maxi.

Whilst of course it won't ultimately have the performance, storage, weather protection or presence of a Maxi so far with just 15miles on the clock I am really
impressed and look forward to see what its like once its fully run in.

Is the speedo kph biased?
9.5 litres will give some range for a 125.
Looks like very good vfm to me.

It's a kph speedo but that doesn't put me off. I can easily convert kph to mph with a quick glance now.

The Daelim brand is excellent and I would recommend their scooters. I agree about the dash indicator lights, they are hidden behind the handle bars.

The indicator lights on the S1's dash are easy to see but when indicating in certain light its hard to see the green lights confirming your indicator is on.
