Re: loads of play
Is the rear axle bolt tight? Or has the rear wheel been refitted minus a spacer after a tyre change? Had both above happen to me.

Re: loads of play
Try the fowlers parts site for exploded diagrams of the rear wheel, check spacers etc...

Re: loads of play
If you are describing the feel when riding rather than actual play at the wheel the it could be a symptom of a worn tyre with a flattened centre. Scooter tyres can square off leaving the centre very thin and this can lead to frightening squirming over road repairs and grooved concrete surfaces.

Re: loads of play
check the engine mounts
my old runner had this problem back wheel moved about three inches from one side to the other (inch and a half each way) and was found to be the mounts that joint the swing arm and engine to the front

Re: loads of play
thanks every one tyre is good , its actual movement from side to side at the rear wheel will check fowlers site
if I take the seat base out and shake the rear wheel the engine can be seen moving a fair bit
will dig deeper during the week and report back

Re: loads of play
Videos are available on the tube as to how to change the engine mounts if you have not done it before.

Re: loads of play
wheel bearing . or spacers like others have said or even ill fitted rear wheel always check simple things first.
Re: loads of play
You haven't said exactly where the play is visible.
If it's just the wheel, then wheel bearings, tightness of the wheel nut - as others have said - or the final drive output shaft bearings want looking at. The first two are easy; the latter less so.
If the engine is moving side-to-side with the wheel then the engine hanger bushes are knackered. I don't know about your scooter, but this is an arse of a job on the Helix.
Either way, I wouldn't be riding it again until you've got it fixed. Good luck!
