Re: Puncturesafe
Yes, filtering is fun. Better than sitting in queues pretending to be a car anyway.

@Data
as your Essex I recall a few articles around Colchester and I think it was Witham of unknown individuals throwing tacks or rivets around some of the busier roads for shits & giggles

Data wrote:Drago, have you put PunctureSafe in both tyres? Just as an after note, last week I found a nice shiny rivet shaft stuck into my rear tyre minus the rivet head! I spotted it when my bike was on the drive just prior to putting it away in the garage. PunctureSafe had shown up the issue with it's blue dye. I was a brave little soldier and grabbed the offending shaft with my pliers and proceded to 'yank'. Very brief hissing and then nothing as I rotated the wheel. Sealed straight away. It's the second rear wheel puncture in the Vespa GTS in just 3 months, both times PunctureSafe sealed it straight away for good. I checked the tyre pressure after the event and it had not changed, didn't lose enough air to make any difference. Normally I check the pressure and keep an eye on the tyre for a few days just to make sure. But it seems to have sealed permanently. So far, in total I've had 4 punctures in the GTS in 18 months and everyone has sealed thanks to PunctureSafe. That's a huge number of punctures for me as the are quite a rare event usually. My theory on why I am suddendly getting so many is that the GTS is so much darn fun to throw around in the traffice and so easy to filter with that I'm riding it on areas of the road where more debris is laying making me susceptible to this sort of thing. Hope your tyre is ok Drago!
I haven't yet. I've got the two scoots that could do with it being installed. Bit embarrassing but I didn't know what a valve core was! Hence couldn't get the stuff in (squirted back onto me rather well though ). I tried using the weedy tool supplied. It slots in ok but when I twist the core isn't budging? Not sure if the valve core is stuck, if I'm being a bit too cautious or the tool isn't up to the job. I only tried on the one tyre, not wanting to faff about with all four until I definitely knew what I was doing. Think I might need to invest in a proper valve core tool.
My commute is rural and quite... Stoney. I check my tyres daily, all four have little nips in them from the smaller stones but I've had had a few punctures in the last few years caused by larger stones ripping through. I've had two screws and one unknown object caused another puncture. Just want that extra bit of security to know I won't end up being stranded somewhere.

Re: Puncturesafe
If you've got a specialist pushbike shop nearby, go and ask if you can borrow a tool to loosen them. They shouldn't be that tight. Dustcaps used to have a core remover but I guess they stopped that because it was too easy for kids to let tyres down.

Re: Puncturesafe
Data - the punctures are probably due to terrible state of Essex roads. Especially in Colchester.

Can't aruge there Mottza. They are getting to be really bad, especially in and around the town.
Probably not ugly enough for the 'Ugly Bunch'!

You should try some B roads in South West Scotland....never seen anything like it for potholes and uneven surfaces. Downright dangerous in parts. Unclassified roads only passable by motoX bike. I was glad to get back to England to get some decent roads!

Re: Puncturesafe
Yeah, sounds odd doesn't it! But the GTS is so different to other bikes you may have ridden, just soooo much fun in any situation actually, that I actually seek out traffic if I get a chance... I really do! The poor traffic doesn't stand a chance!Meldrew wrote:Throwing a scooter around in traffic and filtering is fun... really? I've never found it to be anything more than annoying, frustrating, and sometimes dangerous.
