Gearbox on 650

Post by Jimish »

So how does the gearbox work on the 650?
I understand that you can manually select gears or use it in auto like my Honda NC750x DCT. but the burgy has a variatior too doesn’t it?
Does it have a two clutch system AND a CVT system?
I’m confused! But then it doesn’t take much these days!

No its a variator with preset positions instead of roller weights uses a motor to change postion and gearing .

Also has overdrive sixth gear....but it only works ( it does go into 6th on auto but that 6th is NOT overdrive ) you have to be in Manual mode.
So if you are on the motorway in auto 6th you change to manual and you will notice the bike drops to 5th, you press the up gear button to go into O/D.
And O/D will show on the clocks.

Thanks.
Is auto 6th the same ratio as o/d. Although if it is there wouldn’t be any point in having both.
Does o/d give better mpg?
Really appreciate the info guys.

Yes you only have to look at the rev counter to see the revs drop..

I have a 2017 exec. Yes, when at speed and changing to manual it goes into manual 5th however, if I then press the UP button it goes into manual 6th, doesn't show O/D in display anywhere.
