You take the screws out then you have to pull the panel out sideways at the top once it as come away you then slide it down,
half the problem is knowing which bit is going to move, it does not take a lot of force once you get the hang of it.

Screws have been out, and every clip on the side released, but something is holding it in the middle, out of sight. I've pulled it, slid it, and sworn at it, and pulled it again to the point of snapping. It Will Not Come Off...

Sounds like you have not found the small poppet rivet at the bottom . You need press the middle of the rivet to release it and then just press the middle back in to re use use it on re assembly.
Sorry if it sounds like I'm teaching you to suck eggs.

There isn't one on the 300!
I had no trouble with the similar panel on the T-Max, and I'm pretty handy with vehicle servicing...but this has me beat!
When I get chance, I'll go to dealer and let them snap it...

It’s dead easy to remove, Ive had some panels that were a nightmare to remove.
Just remove the two self tapping screws and then pull the trim edges outwards.
As soon as you get the edges out it virtually falls off :)

Turned into a side road today only doing maybe 20 mph and the Xmax slid sideways by a good foot or two,
reactions included a Dave Bickers style boot to the ground, the scoot sorted it's self out was surprised how
smooth the slide was and that I did not go down, quite impressed,
Went back to look and there was a patch of stuff like black gritty sand it was so slippy the scoot did not want
to set off, be careful out there.

Oddly I had an encounter with something similar today...just whizzed round a corner over a little hump (sun in my eyes!) and then found there was loads of some black material just where I wanted to turn in for the next corner! Fortunately it was grippier stuff than what you came across!
